Exciting Competition at Yas Links Abu Dhabi Sets the Stage for National Final

Abu Dhabi, UAE – May 18, 2024: Over 100 enthusiastic amateur golfers gathered at the prestigious Yas Links Abu Dhabi on a steamy Saturday for the 12th Qualifier of the Race to Laguna Phuket 2024 series. The event, now in its third successful year, witnessed a remarkable turnout, highlighting its growing popularity among the UAE golfing community.

Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of the GOATS (Golfers of All Types) who brought over 40 players, along with Yas Links members and participants from across the UAE, the event showcased the true spirit of amateur golf.

Division Winners and National Final Representatives

The competition was fierce across all divisions, with golfers vying for a coveted spot in the National Final at Abu Dhabi Golf Club on June 1st, 2024. The following golfers emerged victorious in their respective divisions:

Division 1 (up to 5 handicap):

  • 1st Place: Chris Woods (Net 71)
  • 2nd Place: Damon Mitchell (Net 72)

Division 2 (6-10 handicap):

  • 1st Place: Mitchell van Wyk (Net 74)
  • 2nd Place: Tim Kirk (Net 74) – Tim will represent Yas Links as Mitchell has already qualified at Abu Dhabi.

Division 3 (11-15 handicap):

  • 1st Place: Hisyamizan Ishak (Net 72)
  • 2nd Place: Damien Flood (Net 73)

Division 4 (16-20 handicap):

  • 1st Place: Dan Marshall (Net 71)
  • 2nd Place: Ken Lowry (Net 73)

Division 5 (21-25 handicap):

  • 1st Place: Billy Newley (Net 74)
  • 2nd Place: Orinda Tomorri (Net 74) – Orinda will represent Yas Links as Billy has already qualified at Al Zorah Golf Club.
